Questions UK traders ask.
Will it make money?
We can't promise that, and you should be wary of anyone who does. It follows fixed rules and results depend on the market, your account size and your settings. Losing periods happen, and a strong one-way move in gold can cause a large loss. Start on demo.
Which UK broker can I use?
For the free live licence, open your account with Taurex through our link. With a paid licence you can use any broker that offers gold (XAUUSD) on MetaTrader 4 or 5 with a hedging account. As a UK resident, check that your broker is authorised on the FCA Register.
Does UK leverage affect the robot?
Yes. For retail clients, FCA rules cap leverage on gold at 20:1, so each position needs more margin than at offshore brokers. The robot adds larger positions as price moves against a basket, so on a UK account use a smaller first lot, fewer layers and the loss limits. Test your exact settings on a demo account with the same broker first.
Do I need a VPS?
It runs whenever MetaTrader is open. Most people use a low-cost Windows VPS in London so it runs 24/5 with a fast connection to the broker.
Do I pay tax on profits?
Gains from CFD trading are generally subject to Capital Gains Tax in the UK. Everyone's situation is different, so check with HMRC guidance or an accountant. We can't give tax advice.
Is this financial advice?
No. Aurovol is software. We don't manage your money or tell you what to trade. You choose the broker, the account and the settings, and you are responsible for the risk.
How do I pay?
